Why go to the bother of replacing
your speakers?
Replacing your factory-installed
speakers can transform the sound of your car audio
system, particularly if your vehicle is more than
two years old. That's because most factory fitted
speakers are of a cheap paper-cone construction that
will not stand up to months of heat, cold, moisture
and high-volume music.
Which speaker would you rather
listen to?

The speaker on the
left looks new, but sounds awful. It's a typical
factory-fitted speaker.
Even 'quality' vehicle manufacturers fit speakers
such as this.
The one on the right is our Kenwood .
What advantages do you gain when
you install Kenwood speakers?
Kenwood speakers have stronger
magnets and heavy duty voice coils, so they will
sound better and handle high volumes better than
factory fitted speakers. Their woofer cones are made
of rugged materials like poly-propylene to withstand
climate extremes. Some even have surrounds made of
rubber, which extend speaker life and improve bass
response.
High-quality car speakers, such
as the Kenwood PSR Series, bring exceptional sound
and strong
to your vehicle. You'll notice the biggest
difference in the treble output. Kenwood speakers
have real tweeters to reproduce the high notes. You
can choose a pair with 'dual-cone' tweeters (the
most economical) or go with dome tweeters (the type
found in most home hi-fi speakers). Dome tweeters
are made of metals like titanium for extended high
frequency response or a fine cloth like silk for a
smoother sound.
Considering all their advantages,
good speakers don't cost that much. You can pick up
an excellent pair for under £100.
To save money, install your new
speakers yourself. You'll probably be surprised how
easy it is - as long as you buy the right speakers
for your vehicle and know your systems power output.
For the easiest possible
installation, take the factory-fit approach
The key to easy installation is
buying speakers that are the same size as the
factory openings in your vehicle. Simply
measure the diameter of the speakers already fitted
to your vehicle and replace them with Kenwood
speakers of the identical size. Remember to keep an
eye on the mounting depth you have available,
especially if they are located near to window glass,
window winders or locks. Finally, ensure that the
new speakers can handle the power output of your
system (it doesn't matter if the speakers are rated
higher than your radio or amplifier, as long as they
are not rated lower). |
